This past week, it was reported that the alleged rape charge that led to the recent arrest of Nelly has since been dropped.

The allegation, which the rapper’s attorney called “completely fabricated,” is now behind him legally, with the case being dropped due to the fact that his accuser reportedly refused to cooperate. However, a new statement reports that Nelly is looking to pursue legal action in order to clear his name and restore his reputation.

Per a statement issued by his lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, Nelly will be taking legal action as a result of the ordeal.

“Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation,” the statement says. “He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result, Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation.”

The statement adds that the “thorough investigation did show Nelly was a victim of deceitful allegation devoid of credibility. Credible evidence did show this accuser to be deceptive.”
