Earlier this year, Nelly was arrested on an alleged rape charge, a claim his attorney called “completely fabricated.” Nelly broke his own silence in a series of tweets, claiming innocence and offering apologies to his loved ones for the embarrassment caused. Akon came to his defense, as well.

TMZ is now reporting, however, that the case has been dropped.

The site reports that Washington state’s King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office could not move forward with charging the rapper due to the “alleged victim’s refusal to cooperate.”

In October, the alleged victim’s attorney claimed that the pressure of the high-profile case contributed to her client’s decision to not testify against the rapper and to her desire to halt the investigation. The attorney said then, “Who will believe her? People are saying horrible things already. She cannot handle this. She is about to break.”
