New Music: SZA & Calvin Harris, "The Weekend (Funk Wav Remix)"
The once-slow-burning R&B track has been given a new groove.
SZA’s soaring and others are taking note. Since she released the critically-acclaimed Ctrl, she’s been recruited for collaborations with Maroon 5 and Lorde, and now Calvin Harris is entering the fray.
The two have teamed up for a ‘Funk Wav Remix’ of her fan-favorite cut, “The Weekend.”
Considering its title, the reworking expectedly sounds like Harris’s latest album of the same name.
With newly-added handclaps, deep bass plucks, and some vocoderized blips, the once slow-burning track has been given new (funky) life.
According to Australia’s iTunes, the song drops tomorrow, December 15.
For those paying attention, the track sounds like the finalized version of a snippet Harris teased on Snapchat back in July.
