The Jon Favreau-directed remake of The Lion King is nearly destined to be absolutely incredible, especially considering its star-studded cast, which includes Beyoncé, James Earl Jones and Childish Gambino, among others.
However, in addition to the undeniably epic casting, a new report is suggesting that the soundtrack is going to be just as much on point, with Beyoncé and Elton John rumored to be teaming up together.
Rumor Report | Beyoncé reportedly in final ‘Lion King’ negotiations
As reported, Elton John is on track to make as much as $13 million as a result of the new film, with the British pop icon agreeing on a deal to rework his original compositions from the 1994 animated classic.
Not only that, but Beyoncé has also found her name in the mix, with a source sharing with the New York Daily News that the beloved singer will also be involved with the remake’s musical component.
“The songs will be thread into the storyline,” an anonymous source revealed. “It is unthinkable when you have Beyoncé involved not to have her sing some of those iconic hits — and that means huge sales to a new generation. The deal is a huge one and will earn him millions at many stages. Obviously [Elton John] will get a one-off licensing deal followed by a cut in royalties from all aspects of the work.”
While the news has yet to be officially confirmed by Beyoncé, fans are already imagining how wondrous the collaboration would be.
