T.I. sticks up for younger generation of rappers, says this is their time

After 21 Savage chimed in on the heated conversation recently sparked by Waka Flocka and Pete Rock, with the rappers duking it out on social media regarding the generational gap in hip-hop, Atlanta heavyweight T.I. has decided to add his two cents as well.

Following 21 writing an open letter calling out OG rappers for disrespecting and talking down on the generation after them, T.I. wrote his own commentary on the matter, siding with the 25-year-old.

“@21savage lil bro speaking real truth tho,” Tip wrote in his caption, adding a screenshot of 21’s original commentary. “The fact of the matter is… There’s been good, bad, great, mediocre artists,&otherwise in EVERY generation …. Even ours(2000s) , The Founding era (80s) & the golden era of the 90s.”

The veteran rapper then continued on, addressing the subject matter of drug use which 21 Savage mentioned in his original message.

“They’re not the only generation to make ‘user music’ either,” he continued. “Can anyone remember a Lil album called ‘The Chronic’? Or hit Recs like ‘Sippin on some Sizzurp’…. Regardless of the subject matter…This is THEY TIME. Couldn’t nobody tell us how to run ours,or make us sound how they thought we should… Live ya life & do ya stuff young’n. Just bare with us,&try to understand …. y’all n—z kinda different & take some getting used to. As the elders gotta understand they’re SUCCESS JUSTIFIES the CHANGE. The Numbers DONT LIE!!! Can’t hate on that.”

Drug references in hip-hop have recently been brought to light, following the tragic passing of Lil Peep, who died of a suspected overdose, with the subject sparking a new nationwide conversation regarding the differences between the older generation of rappers and that of today.
