Run-D.M.C.’s own Rev. Run, along with his wife Justine Simmons, are gearing up to make their return to the television screen.
As reported, the couple, who previously starred in Run’s House from 2005 to 2009, has been cast in a scripted comedy series that will stream exclusively on Netflix.
The series will feature the hip-hop veteran portraying himself in a semi-fictionalized show that follows his experience after retiring from the rap game.
The comedy series was initially picked up by ABC after a bidding war but Netflix later scooped up the series prior to the pilot being filmed. The show, which is still without a name, was penned by Jeremy Bronson, of The Mayor and Speechless fame.
As reported, Netflix ordered 10 episodes for its first season, with the show also doubling as Rev Run’s first scripted series. He previously participated in several reality shows, including Rev Runs Around the World, Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers and Rev Run’s Renovations.
Following the news breaking, Rev Run took to Instagram to thank a handful of people for helping him make “the biggest deal of [his] TV career” to date.
