While Eminem has remained relatively and tactfully tight-lipped about his forthcoming album, Revival, one thing he hasn’t shied away from as of late is talking about his bucket list collaboration with Beyoncé.
Their joint track, “Walk on Water,” which Eminem recently performed for the first time at the 2017 EMAs, is something that the Detroit rapper has been manifesting for a while now. During a recent sit-down on Shade 45, Eminem explained why their collaboration didn’t happen sooner.
“First of all, Beyoncé is amazing,” Em began. “And, it’s been on my wish list for a long time, but I never really had a song that I felt like would be right to present to her. So, I was kinda waitin’ and then me and Paul kicked the idea around after I finished it, you know.”
He then explains why he felt “Walk on Water” was a good fit to approach her about.
“And based off what it was about, I felt like she probably could relate to this, too,” he explained. “Every song she puts out, every album is so calculated and precise. Everything is so perfect.”
While it was recently revealed that JAY-Z may have had a little bit of an involvement in getting Bey on the track, it’s refreshing to hear Eminem discuss how their collaboration came to fruition in his own words.
Additionally, Eminem is also gearing up to appear on SNL tonight (Nov. 18), with Chance the Rapper slated to host.
