Chance the Rapper is shifting gears and, for the first time after three past appearances, will serve as host of Saturday Night Live this weekend instead of musical guest.

In anticipation of the gig, he visited The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he not only revealed that he wrote some of the scheduled sketches himself, but that he got help from a famous friend. Chance said:

“I got in on Monday and I’ve just been in New York every day writing with the cast and meeting everybody. It’s a crazy feeling, I love it….I wrote three sketches that will make it into the show. Well, they’ll make it to dress rehearsal, so they could get pulled. Lorne [Michaels] could pull them last minute but hopefully, as of right now, I’ve got three sketches in the show. Well, actually, I wrote five. I came here with five. I’m a huge fan of the show, and I know that when they bring in guest hosts, they usually come with a few ideas at least, especially if they’re into comedy. And so I brought a few sketches by. One of them, I actually gotta give credit to my good friend Donald Glover who helped me with the idea. He’s a great, great dude, as well. It’s a crazy thing to have people enjoy what I have to bring to the table.”

This isn’t the first time the two have worked together. Nor should it be the last since both men have teased that a collaborative musical project is in the works here and here.

Chance will also become the first unsigned artist to host the show, a title he admitted to not being pressured by, saying:

“It’s cool because I don’t have, like, there’s nobody before me that was the first-first unsigned artist, so it’s not like I have to live up to anybody’s expectations. I could be terrible on the show, and still the first!”

Chance also talked to Fallon about wanting to hang out with Drake more, never meeting Eminem (who’ll be serving as musical guest), being named Humanitarian of the Year by Michelle Obama, the success of his non-profit organization, and the launch of his own Twilight Awards.
