Following multiple delays and a few title changes, T-Pain has finally delivered his fifth solo LP, Oblivion. Released to retailers today (Nov. 17), his first project in six years features contributions from Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign and Wale. The Grammy Award-winning rapper-turned-singer/songwriter was a guest on The Breakfast Club this morning. There, he spoke on the meaning behind his latest album’s title, Future’s brother saying that the “Wicked” rapper would never work with him, and how HOT 97 made him crash JAY-Z’s Summer Jam performance.

On Oblivion:

“It’s a celebration of coming out of that depression. I felt like I was in a void for a long time, just by myself. But that was me doing that. I put myself in there. The I’s are lowercase, because I felt small at the time.”

On suing Cash Money Records for $500,000

“Usually people don’t handle their own money. I’m not talking to Wayne about this. I’m not talking to Baby about this. I’m not talking to anybody about this. It’s just that my team realized that ‘hey, we still didn’t get this. … It ain’t got nothing to do with me and Wayne’s relationship or me and Baby’s relationship.”

On crashing JAY-Z’s Summer Jam set

“They knew I was coming. The whole thing was set up. I think the only person that didn’t know was Jay. … I was asking Ebro if he could get Jay to do it on my set, and he said Jay was triple- booked that day, but they didn’t want everybody to know that he was coming to Summer Jam, because he was doing Jeezy’s set.”

Future’s brother telling him Future would never work with him

“Future’s brother sparked that whole thing, and he don’t even remember doing it. We was in the club and somebody came to me and said Future’s brother wants to meet you and unbenounced to me the same dude went to Future’s brother ad was like T-Pain wants to meet you. He was trying to spark something up. I was like tell your brother I want to work with him. We need to get in the studio. This is way before. And he basically said “my brother will never work with you.”
