Right around this time last year, genuine concern rang out across the hip-hop community, with all eyes on Kanye West.
Back in November 2016, ‘Ye abruptly ended his Saint Pablo show in Sacramento after a near 15-minute rant calling out JAY-Z and Beyoncé, something that Cam’ron has decided to address during his new mixtape, The Program.
On the track “Coleslaw,” Killa Cam dives right into referencing ‘Ye’s past actions from the jump, even blasting him for his hospitalization before offering his own unsolicited advice directed at his former Roc-A-Fella Records labelmate.
“Kanye got on stage, what he do? Play JAY-Z out / What he do next? Check into the crazy house?,” Cam spits. “F—k that, you made a living talking greasy / Besides that, man, you Yeezy with the Yeezys / Be yourself, you ain’t gotta go AWOL / And f—k that, ‘Ye I been that way since yay-tall / If you regret it, then dead it, but if you said it, you said it.”
While it is unclear as to why Cam felt like addressing the situation now and in such a tough love manner, he did warn on Instagram in a now-deleted post: “If you emotional, don’t listen.”
Perhaps Cam is hoping West, who has remained primarily out of the spotlight since being hospitalized last year save for select appearances, will take accountability for the words he spilled last year.
Either that, or the Harlem rapper may have some insider intel surrounding the Watch The Throne collaborators that led to his venting on wax, either regarding ‘Ye’s rumored streaming service plans or the thought that the pair are looking to make amends.
Regardless of where the inspiration to go hard at Yeezy came from, Cam’ron certainly had some things to get off his chest. Take a listen to the track in question below and check out Cam’s new mixtape in full here.
