Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3” gets an epic remix by Morehouse student
Check out Julien Turner’s extra credit project.
Dwann Davenport, a professor at Morehouse College, recently told students that if they were willing to make a music video on any subject she’s covered in her class, she would offer a curve on their overall grade.
19-year-old student Julien Turner was up for the challenge, looking to Lil Uzi Vert’s smash single, “XO Tour Llif3,” for inspiration.
The clip, which has since gone viral on social media with over 100,000 retweets and counting, shows the sophomore student expertly incorporating lyrics relating to biology into the song.
For one example, the sophomore flipped the lyrics, “Push me to the edge / All my friends are dead” into “If my genes go left unread / All my cells are dead.”
While Internet fame certainly is a nice bonus, the best news is that Davenport was genuinely impressed with her student’s creativity and that the song is effectively helping other students across the U.S.
“The social media response [has been] great,” Turner, who has his own production company with his 15-year-old brother, shared with reporters. “The best ones I’ve gotten so far are from teachers telling me their students (especially in the inner-cities) have already memorized and now understand the concept of mitosis and meiosis.”
The concept of incorporating hip-hop into one’s lesson plans has been taking off as of late, with an educational remix of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” and one of Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out” previously going viral.
Take a look at the hilarious (but educational) remix of Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3” below.
