Rome Castille helps soundtrack Freeman Plat’s new Obama-inspired collection

Jeremy Sallee, the man responsible for designing Kendrick Lamar’s capsule collection with Reebok, has today (Nov. 1) dropped a new capsule collection alongside fast-rising e-commerce platform Wanderset, drawing inspiration from Barack Obama and Japanese culture for his latest pieces.

Sallee, who currently works as a Design Director of Footwear for the legendary Ralph Lauren, has tapped emerging West Coast rapper Rome Castille to soundtrack a captivating visual accompanying the expressive, detail-laden Freeman Plat line.

The short film, which was shot by Brian Dos Reis with cinematography from Bryan McCabe Jr., brilliantly captures the intention behind the collection: to anger Trump by celebrating his predecessor and to inspire others to combat stereotypes much like Obama has throughout his storied career.

For the collection—aptly titled F—k Stereotypes, Set Precedent—Sallee spent time in Japan studying and absorbing their traditions, culture and design, referring to the island nation as “one of the most aesthetically brilliant societies ever.”

By celebrating two of the most well-mannered, diverse and honorable subjects, the juxtaposition of details nodding to the beloved 44th president and Japanese-inspired design is reminding streetwear and fashion enthusiasts everywhere that the art that unapologetically tells the truth and reflects the times is undeniably the most impactful.

Additionally, be sure to keep an eye out for a forthcoming playlist curated by recording artist Joey A.X, which will be dropping soon on Wanderset’s WonderWav music channel, completing the capsule collection’s forward-thinking and culturally conscious activation.
