Casanova and Memphis Bleek visit ‘The Breakfast Club’

Cass and Bleek talk working together and upcoming music.

Casanova is one of several emerging acts making noise in NYC. His buzz was loud enough to attract the attention of Memphis Bleek, who signed him to his Warehouse Music label. The two Brooklyn representers visited The Breakfast Club to speak on working with one another, Casanova’s forthcoming music and Bleek’s label.

“I’m just trying to make the best music,” said Casanova, who is currently prepping his debut album. With 30 songs already recorded for the project, the young rapper told The Breakfast Club to anticipate a shift in the vibe of his music. He explained how touring with Chris Brown inspired the change. “After the Party Tour everything was fun and I started seeing fun things,” he said.

Having a respected veteran like Memphis Bleek in your corner is obviously beneficial. However, don’t expect the Coming of Age rapper to be overly involved in the crafting of his artists’ music. With Casanova, he instead takes a hands-off approach. “Really none,” he said when asked about how much influence he has on Casanova’s music. He later added, “I got whole heart faith in my guy that he knows what he’s doing and that he got it.”

Though Bleek has been attached to his Get Low Records imprint throughout much of his career as a rapper, he told DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne tha God that he considers Warehouse Music his first foray into running a record label. “Big homie gave me the green light and here we are,” said Bleek, who compared his first imprint to a NASA space shuttle that failed to get off of the ground.
