Taylor Bennett is continuing to level up and carve a lane of his own, all while keeping an eye on his future and finding ways to establish longevity in the music industry.

Most recently, the 21-year-old Chicago rapper has launched his own label, Tay Bennett Entertainment. Not only will the imprint be an outlet for him to release his own work, but he also will be building a roster of artists to support as well.

As reported, the rapper recently signed fellow Chicagoan Bianca Shaw, revealing that his father helped him to discover her music.

“My dad called me and said, ‘You need to listen to this girl. She’s real good!’” Bennett shared during an interview with Rolling Stone. “My dad has great taste in music so I took him seriously.”

Additionally throughout the recent sit-down, Bennett explains how he was one of the first to do independent distribution in Chicago, with his moves helping inspire his older brother, Chance The Rapper, to go the streaming route, as well as discusses his well-informed opinions of the music industry and what has come to be known as a 360 deal.

“Me, as well as my brother, we’re really some do-it-yourself people,” the rapper adds, explaining why it was an easy decision for him to want to remain independent. “Don’t chase the blogs. Let the blogs chase you. Don’t chase the playlists. Let the playlists chase you. You be the best artist you can be and when you work hard independently eventually those opportunities will come.”
