Reggie "Combat Jack" Osse reveals cancer diagnosis, receives outpouring of support

The hip hop community has just received some bad news. In a statement posted to Twitter, it was unveiled that Reggie Osse, better known as Combat Jack, is battling colon cancer.

“I got hit with some real life shit,” said the official release posted from his popular podcast, the Combat Jack Show’s Twitter account. “I was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer.”

Combat Jack earned his industry stripes as an entertainment lawyer for the likes of Jay Z, Damon Dash, Roc-a-fella Records, Capone-N-Noreaga, and more. He’s largely known for the Combat Jack Show now, one of the earliest successful hip-hop podcasts. Just this year, he also produced Mogul, a critically-acclaimed narrative podcast that told the story of record exec Chris Lighty.

The announcement has of course been met with an outpouring of love, support, and well-wishes for Osse, who has become one of the leading voices in the hip-hop podcast realm. His upcoming “journey to health” will include chemotherapy treatments, as well as alternative medicine. He has already had an emergency surgery, which has been described as “severe.”

Leaving off with some well-needed optimism, Osse, who was once Jay-Z’s lawyer, concluded his statement on a bright note. “Take care of your health. Your boy aint going nowhere though. We’re gonna keep doing this. Keep rocking’ with us,” the announcement read.

Members of the rap and digital media worlds have taken to social media to show their support for Combat Jack, with the hashtag #CombatCancer.
