#REVOLTMusicConference 2017 | French Montana receives proclamation from the mayor of Miami Beach

  /  10.13.2017

On Thursday evening (Oct. 11), Sean “Diddy” Combs played host to the official opening ceremony and welcome cocktail reception for the fourth-annual REVOLT Music Conference, taking place through the weekend at the Eden Roc resort in Miami Beach.

During his brief address, Combs introduced Philip Levine, the mayor of Miami Beach, with the two welcoming French Montana to the stage to present the Bad Boy artist with a special honor from the city.

After sharing several kind words about French’s achievements, the mayor read aloud from the official proclamation, declaring that he “hereby proclaims October 12, 2017, as French Montana Day in the city of Miami Beach.”

With a massive smile on his face, French thanked the mayor, taking to center stage to express his gratitude for the honor with the official city proclamation proudly in hand.

“Shout out to all of the entrepreneurs in here,” French began. “One thing I learned, from my brother Puff, and anybody that I’ve learned from is that you will never be rich unless you’re rich in heart, you know what I’m saying.”

French continued his sentiments, further elaborating on some of what he’s learned firsthand from Combs.

“I feel like, since I met my brother, the only thing that makes a legend is energy, you know what I’m saying,” French stated, being met with electrifying applause. “Energy is the only thing that can take you somewhere you’ve never been before. When you calculate your prayers, and you mold around opportunities, and you mold around boulders, all that s—t is calculated. There’s a limit to all of that, but energy and love can take you somewhere you’ve never been before. You’ve never known what real love is until you helped somebody that can’t help you. A lot of people think they blessed, but they not blessed because sometimes God blesses you to bless people around you. The moment you stop blessing people around you, God can take everything away from you. Always remember that.”

From there, French calls himself out, laughing that he’s “not a preacher,” with Combs reassuring him that he’s doing a good job.

“I’m not a preacher because I was raised around a lot of false prophets, you know,” French continued. “It was like preaching to the choir. There’s a lot of lost souls out there. It’s almost like being baptized in dirty water, that’s how we came up in the hood. So I’m just happy that God blessed me to meet people like my brother Puff Daddy and the real family that helped me stay grounded and get to where I am right now. I want to say thank you to everybody that has held us down. My fans and big up to the man upstairs. Without him, none of this would be possible.”

“With French, as soon as I met him, I knew he was one of us,” Combs added. “He’s about staying professional, he’s about being about his business and most importantly, he’s about staying positive.”

Congrats to French Montana on earning his own day, as proclaimed by the city of Miami Beach.
