Cardi B is on cloud nine. Not only that, but the Bronx rapper has every reason to be.
From breaking all sorts of records with her chart-topping smash single, “Bodak Yellow,” to earning a whopping nine nominations at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, this year’s event was another dream come true for Miss Belcalis Almanzar.
The 24-year-old rapper, who is soon to be 25 once the clock strikes midnight tonight (Oct. 11), found her name under the nomination list for Single of the Year, Best New Hip-Hop Artist, Best Hip-Hop Video, Hot Ticket Performer, Hustler of the Year, Made-You-Look Award (Best Hip-Hop Style), Best Mixtape, Impact Track and MVP of the Year. If you can read that full sentence aloud without needing to take a breath, we applaud you.
Prior to the awards airing on BET, it was announced that Cardi B took home the award for Single of the Year and Best New Artist, already setting the mood for what is becoming a massive celebration for the #BardiGang. She also took home the award for Hustler of the Year, thanking her fans and giving a raunchy shout out to her man, Offset.
During her time on stage to rock the mic, Cardi B sported the most epic fur coat 2017 has seen, delivering a fiery performance of her undeniable summer anthem, “Bodak Yellow,” while performing in front of a New York backdrop complete with a bodega, barbershop and electronic stores. Yup, she put on for her beloved city while in Miami.
While we may be sounding a bit redundant at this point, these accolades further prove how 2017 is undeniably a breakout year for the fast-rising artist. Not too shabby for a regular, degular, shmegular girl from the Bronx, huh?
For those who have been watching her come-up since her days on Love and Hip-Hop, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult not to be part of the #BardiGang. However, as even the queen of clapbacks can attest, haters are still going to hate. Let’s see if anyone tried it tonight, though.
