Comic-Con has taken over New York City this weekend, with The Weeknd himself having his own set of fun.
As announced on Saturday (Oct. 7) during the weekend-long affair, the Canadian crooner officially has a new comic book on the way, in collaboration with Marvel.
While details still remain minimal, The Weeknd shared what is presumably the cover art and title, with the new project a new interpretation of his ‘Starboy’ character.
Not only that, but The Weeknd also surprised fans with a spontaneous autograph-signing session, posting up at Marvel’s booth at Comic-Con Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:30PM ET.
The Weeknd has previously spoke on wanting to turn his “alias” from his latest album, Starboy, into a comic book character, first discussing the concept with Zane Lowe last November.
“Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga,” the Weeknd shared at the time. “I guess this is the fourth chapter. He’s a character that we created. It’s so funny, we want to create a comic out of him as well. He’s a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album. He’s definitely made his appearance in different records in the past as well. He’s a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us.”
Judging from the cover art detailing the year 2018, it looks like we just might be blessed with the new comic book collaboration early next year.
