As countless celebrities are sharing messages of condolences and compassion with those who lost their loved ones during the mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas on Sunday (Oct. 1) and utilizing their platforms to call for gun law reform, Usher has decided he’d personally like to pay tribute in a way that hits closest to him and his fans: through music.

As reported, the storied R&B singer is planning on hosting a special performance to honor the victims of the tragedy, explaining that he would like to do his part to help combat the “war on hatred.”

“Music has always been a place we retreat to for love, for passion for honesty, we will not be in fear of things that happen,” he shared during an interview with Extra. That is how you respond to adversity, that is how you respond to negativity – with love… My heart goes out to them… The war is on hatred. We are love and we have to be that collectively.”

The choice to organize a tribute concert falls in line with the mission of his new talent show app initiative, Megastar, which looks to help foster the careers of aspiring talent through a mobile app.

“If you can teach the people who are trying to be great at something, take a negative and try to turn it to a positive,” he added. “It can turn into what any person’s dream can be.”

At the time of this report, Usher’s Las Vegas plans are still in the preliminary stages, with more details to follow.
