Russell Westbrook has impressively leveled up once again, this time breaking a financial record in the process.

As reported by ESPN, the NBA star has signed a five-year, $205 million contract extension. The deal doubles as the biggest guaranteed contract in the history of the NBA.

According to reports, the deal starts with the 2018-2019 season, with the player signing on for six seasons and earning a very, very pretty penny of no less than a combined $233 million (with this total sum including his $23M salary for the 2017-2018 season). Additionally, the contract includes a player option for the 2022-23 season.

Sam Presti, the Thunder’s general manager, reportedly finalized the deal earlier Friday afternoon (Sept. 29).

“We are extremely fortunate to have an athlete, competitor and person such as Russell wear the Thunder uniform,” Presti shared in a statement to the press. “To have him cement his legacy as a leader as we enter into our 10th season in Oklahoma City is extraordinary. I am extremely grateful to Russell, his family and to our ownership for the commitment and support that they have demonstrated in supporting our vision for the Thunder.”

Westbrook took to social media to confirm (and celebrate) the news, writing that he was so honored to continue his career with the Thunder.

“When you play in Oklahoma City you play in front of the best fans in the world,” the two-time All-Star Game MVP said. “I’m looking forward to bringing everything I’ve got, for them, this city and for this organization. WHY NOT?”
