Stream: Nas blesses A$AP Rocky collaborator Joe Fox with guest verse

  /  09.27.2017

While many fans have tunnel vision regarding when we will finally be treated to Nas’ next studio album, the Queensbridge icon is warming up his lyrical talents with a guest verse on Joe Fox’s new version of his previously released track “What’s the Word.”

Fox, who is best known for his contributions on A$AP Rocky’s AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP record, released the track back in July, with the London-based artist revisiting the tune years after a fateful meeting with the rap veteran.

“I met Nas at a GQ magazine party with A$AP Rocky two years ago, when he was playing with Questlove, Fox shared with Pitchfork. “And now here we are! Amazing to have him do a verse on one of my songs!!”

“Yo, I am rock-and-roll with bebop, the rebirth of Leopold Stokowski/I be the first to re-work verses so that they sound profoundly loud in a cathedral/I’m surrounded by evil/They brutalize unarmed people/Everybody got this, everybody got that/Everybody’s rich, everybody’s acting like they pockets is fat,” Nas spits on the reworked retro soul track.

Nas, who is currently on tour with Lauryn Hill, has lent his talents sparingly in recent years, last appearing on French Montana’s MC4 and DJ Khaled’s Major Key with the track “Nas Album Done.”

Take a listen to Nas and Joe Fox’s new collaboration “What’s the Word” below.
