NYPD responds to Cardi B's chokehold allegations
Three days after the claimed incident, the department speaks up.
Earlier this week, Cardi B took to Twitter claiming that she’d been put in a chokehold by a white, New York police officer. The tweets were deleted shortly after, but her boyfriend, Migos’ Offset, weighed in yesterday on the alleged incident too, saying, “I ain’t think she was being serious until I seen her face.”
The NYPD had remained quiet about the report until today. In a statement to Pitchfork, the department said:
“The NYPD was made aware of a tweet made by rapper Cardi B, which was since deleted, and indicated an alleged interaction between the NYPD and her. The NYPD has no record or any other information to support the validity of this claim.”
