As Netflix continues to establish itself as a powerhouse for entertainment and streaming, the company also is expanding its original content.

Most recently, the company announced that its latest movie, The After Party, has begun production, with Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Teyana Taylor and Kyle all tapped to co-star.

As reported, the movie will be a coming-of-age tale, with its story taking place during “one wild night,” and highlighting a music business theme. According to Variety, the film will follow the story of two friends looking to land a record deal before one heads to college and the other to the military.

The project also doubles as Live Nation’s first scripted production, with filming set to take place on location at The Meadows Music and Arts Festival (which took place this past weekend) and during a live concert at the Gramercy Theater.

According to Variety, Lee “W” O’Denat, the founder of WordStarHipHop, “was inspired to develop the idea because of his love of classic films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and American Graffiti.”

Russell Simmons is also listed among the film’s producers, alongside Jake Stein, Jamie Patricof, Heather Parry, Trevor Engelson, Doug Banker, and O’Denat.

The film is currently slated for a 2018 release on the streaming platform.
