Joey Bada$$ is always looking out for ways to represent his Caribbean roots, whether through his music or through his actions off the stage.

Although the Pro Era emcee is the first of his immediate family to be born in the United States and resides in Brooklyn, he still has plenty of loved ones in areas such as St. Lucia and Jamaica, with the recent hurricanes hitting the islands hard.

During a recent conversation with REVOLT’s Shaheem Reid, following his performance at the Meadows Festival in New York City, the 22-year-old assures fans that his family is doing okay following the storms and that he has plans to get involved with relief efforts as much as he can.

“It’s crazy ‘cuz I was talking to my mom and she was like, yo, this is the first time ever that every single thing that happened, we know someone affected by it, you know what I’m saying,” Joey shares, after confirming his family and friends affected by the storms are hanging in there.

“But you know, speaking of, I’m actually doing a drive next Saturday in Brooklyn alongside the Brooklyn Bowl president so look out for that,” he says, announcing that he will be taking part in a forthcoming fundraiser to help those in need.

“I definitely plan on doing my part and helping the people who were affected by the recent events,” the rapper adds.

The details regarding Joey Bada$$’s hurricane relief drive have yet to be announced, but be on the lookout for a forthcoming event happening next weekend in Brooklyn, New York.
