In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, Trae Tha Truth has helped lead relief efforts in Houston, with his unwavering support for his hometown and his selfless mission to help rebuild the city as commendable as it is influential.
While Trae has inspired countless fans and fellow Texans to get involved to help those affected by the recent hurricane, the rapper has also somehow found the time to piece together a new music video to help further his cause creatively.
The new visual, which is accompanied by his 2015 cut, “Trying to Figure It Out,” features footage captured throughout the past several weeks, highlighting some of the most powerful scenes Trae and others have witnessed following the storm in an effort to showcase how strong a community can be when it comes together.
“The song fits the mood of the people in my community right now,” Trae shared in a statement accompanying the video. “I was watching people post videos from Houston putting the song in the background, and it just so happens that the performance part of the video was shot a year or two years ago. Phillyflyboy took it upon himself to place footage from Houston right now into what we already had with performance footage. It fits perfect because it shows the reality of what’s going with Houston. I’m not into promoting music right now, but I feel light needs to be shed so that people know what we’re going through.”
At the time of this report, Trae has helped raise over $134,000 to aid hurricane relief efforts through his recent GoFundMe initiative, which was organized through his nonprofit, Angels By Nature. As exemplified through his latest music video, there is a lot of work yet to be done and Trae will continue to be there for his beloved city, through thick and thin.
