The last time we spoke to BOSCO, it was under different circumstances as the multi-hyphenated talent was then focusing on (and sharing the goals of) her creative services agency, Slug. But, before that, we were well aware of her applauded artistry: we premiered the Fool’s Gold signee’s music video for “Boy” and got Insider Access on her collaborative mixtape with DJ Speakerfoxxx (Girls In The Yard). And, afterward, we continued to keep an ear on her new releases—namely, the grungy bounce that is “Adrenaline” and synthy haze created by “Cruel”—and waited in anxious anticipation for their source.

The culmination would come via b., BOSCO’s new eight-track, dreamy alt-R&B project that she herself described to REVOLT TV as “diary-like” and full of “unfinished conversations.”

We spoke to the singer about its standout tracks—the ones she was most excited for fans to hear, the ones that served as bittersweet labors of love—their recording processes, the project’s theme, and the obstacles faced by (and beauty of) being a multi-faceted woman.

ON “CRUEL”: I was like, ‘I don’t know, I feel like this is a little magic nugget that I kind of discovered.’

ON “FLOWERS”: It was vocally challenging and that was something that I was really trying to drive home.

ON “CIGARETTE SEX”: I wrote the hook like four years ago, but I still could not get the framework.
