Rihanna hit New York like the unstoppable maelstrom that she is. After selling out Fenty Beauty’s darkest foundation (effectively proving that if you make good foundation for brown girls they will buy it), she presented the SS18 line for her flagship PUMA collection at Park Armory.

The collection stayed true to many of the fashion cues the singer-turned-designer showed an early affinity for. Oversized silhouettes layered over mesh, neoprene and sheer body-con pieces made a return alongside elongated sleeves a la Vetements (and everyone else). However, this time Rih chose to riff on one of last season’s most popular trends: motocross.

Deftly combining sports allusions and the fitted, rubberized details of motocross gear with swimwear details, the singer created an oddly symbiotic collection from two disparate elements. Rife with ’90s allusions (another trend that’s making a comeback), the collection was perfectly in step with the culture that inspired it.
