Once upon a time in 2007, two rap heavyweights decided to release their junior albums on the same exact date. Kanye West and 50 Cent, two of the era’s biggest titans post JAY-Z, Eminem, and Nas. With stellar sophomores already in their respective rearview (Late Registration, The Massacre), all eyes were on focused on the career trajectory would come after the release of their follow-up. So a match-up was set for September 11th: Kanye’s Graduation versus 50 Cent’s Curtis.

While we know the clear winner in the battle 10 years later, the famous SoundScan battle continues to generate chatter to this day. So in honor of the game-changing contest and its aftermath, we revisited Kanye and 50’s epic clash with a special Tale of the Tape Greats. Check it out below.
