On Thursday afternoon (September 7), Buffalo emcee Westside Gunn took to Instagram to properly announce that he would be releasing a joint album with rap’s super-like-in-your-building-villain, MF DOOM.
Teasing the project with a preview of “Gorilla Monsoon”, Westside wrote “it’s official WESTSIDEDOOM is here prod by ALCHEMIST & DARINGER this is one of the illest projects I’ve ever heard when u think ART, this is it the RAWEST, FLYEST, GRIMIEST shit you’ve ever heard IN YA LIFE wats dope than FLYGOD & DOOM spread the gospel the day is soon cometh.”
The news comes during the fifth week of DOOM’s single series with Adult Swim under the name of The Missing Notebook Rhymes, a weekly, fifteen-track rollout of songs that were to, or will, appear on upcoming projects.
Back in March, it was announced that Westside and Conway’s Griselda Records had inked a deal with Shady Records, marking the one-two punch of a pair as the first artists from Buffalo to receive major label backing.
As for The Alchemist and Daringer, the producers most recently appeared on Action Bronson’s Blue Chips 7000.
WestsideDOOM is currently without a release date, but in the meantime be sure to check out REVOLT Presents: Buffalo Soldiers below.
