Actress Andrea Rachel says her Power character Destiny is no stool pigeon. During the show’s season finale that aired this past Sunday, Destiny was forced to give up the whereabouts of her heavily-hated-by-the-fans cousin Ray Ray. In a pivotal scene, a vengeful Tommy, played by Joseph Sikora, unexpectedly burst into Destiny’s apartment with a ratchet in hand.

“I knew he was going to bust through the door,” Rachel said about filming while sitting in REVOLT TV’s New York studios. “I think we had it written that he does something else instead of how he actually came in. Like, maybe he shot through the door. I don’t remember what exactly it was, but he always busts in that crazy, dramatic way. It was crazy because they didn’t want me to get hurt or harmed. And the way that they wanted to do it, I was very close to the door. And so they thought something was going to go fling into my head or a piece of wood would go flying into my eye or something. And so they kept trying to go around that actual scene so that I wouldn’t get hurt. There wasn’t a stunt person there. I kept saying, ‘No, no, no, let’s do it’ because I want to be in an action film. Eventually, I really want to get into action film, so this is my first little tiny taste of action.”

While Andrea appreciated the director and the film crew being protective, she was ready to dive in. Finally, Sikora convinced everyone she would be fine.

“He was all-in,” she said of her castmate. “He was like, ‘Yo, let’s just do it.’ I was like, ‘Yay.’ But that whole day was fun. It was really, really fun. It was emotional, so it was tiring, but it was fun. In my mind, I felt like Destiny knows. She knows. She’s trying to keep her mind off of it, but she knows something’s gonna happen because someone’s dead, her cousin left her, so when she sees that someone’s bust in and they have a gun to her head and it happens to be Tommy and she’s probably heard about Tommy–especially if she’s heard about Ghost. So a few shots, I was just hyperventilating. I mean, in some takes I was just really going in, so it was cool.”

One of the things that the Brooklyn native appreciated most about the scene was that even though Sikora is the more tenured actor, he consulted with her about their actions.

“I think everyone does kind of get locked into the character and the moment. And you kind of need to have some type of foundation there where it doesn’t get too playful because this is a serious moment happening,” she explained. “But we definitely spoke in between takes. It was like, ‘Oh my God, Joseph Sikora just asked me for advice.’ He was so cool and chill about just saying, ‘Hey, what do you think about something like this?’ That was like a ‘whoa’ moment for me.”

Although Destiny did not die in the season finale, Andrea Rachel says she’s not sure what the future holds for her character.
