Billboards featuring the words ‘Netflix is a Joke’ have been popping up across Los Angeles and New York, leaving everyone on social media confused.

The billboards were first noticed on Tuesday, September 5, in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York, at Olympic and Robertson in Los Angeles, and other areas across both cities. Immediately, many believed the signs were erected by Netflix’s competitors, however, according to Variety, the signage is part of an elaborate marketing campaign.

Netflix has not gone into detail about the marketing surrounding the signs but many believe they have something to do with the streaming service’s increased comedy programming. Hasan Minhaj, Trevor Noah, Dave Chappelle, and Sarah Silverman are a few of the standup comedies that were added this year. Jerry Seinfeld’s upcoming standup special “Jerry Before Seinfeld,” premieres Sept. 19
