Every so often, the world is blessed with a new sound. You know, the kind that makes you say, “Yo, run that back.” Usually from the type of artist that has you reflecting on every word they’ve assembled to depict their stories.

Since A$AP Ferg first introduced himself back in 2013 with his hit breakout single “Work,” he has continued to be a transformative artist in this generation of hip-hop. Naturally, we tend to think, ‘Damn, who is his biggest inspiration?’ And in his most recent music video for “East Coast,” it’s apparent that Ferg is drawn to some of the most iconic visuals made by artist like Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot.

He has always acknowledged his immense admiration for Elliot and Timberland and recently talked about the joy of being able to share music with them. However, the silver lining is that they are fans of his, too.

Coming into his own, Ferg recognizes his ability to inspire others through his music and doesn’t take the task lightly. Speaking with REVOLT TV, he discussed his intentional use of motivational words, from lyrics to album titles. He credits his talents to being aware of the vibes that surround him in his daily life and throughout his creative process. Given his passion towards preserving culture, he leaves trails of motivational gems in his music. Check out what gems he left us with in our exclusive interview above.
