Following Hurricane Harvey causing devastation as it tore through Texas this past weekend, celebrities have been coming together to utilize their resources and platforms to help out as the nation’s relief efforts will remain ongoing.

One Houston native, rapper Trae Tha Truth, has decided to lend a hand as well, revealing to local news reporters that he himself was forced to evacuate his home as a result of the storm. Now that he is safe, the 37-year-old emcee is paying it forward.

“I felt helpless yesterday when I had to be rescued, so I know the feeling,” Trae shared with reporters, explaining why he chose to become a volunteer after having to evacuate his home on Monday (Aug. 28).

As reported, the rapper has been assisting a group of volunteers who have been selflessly boating across the city’s flooded streets to rescue as many people as they possibly can.

In addition to being hands-on with his efforts, Trae also seconded the wise words from OG rapper Bun B, asking for those with access to a boat or a truck to volunteer, as well as has been encouraging others to pool supplies and donations.
