Earlier this year, New York’s annual Red Bull Music Academy Festival saw–among other workshops, events, and lectures–a multimedia dance performance from Solange, a piano bar show from Gucci Mane, a Prince tribute, and some celebrations of New Jack Swing.

But now, the world-traveling series will be coming to the West Coast for the first time.

The inaugural Los Angeles edition will include Flying Lotus and Thundercat co-headlining a 3D show, conversations with both Ice-T and Floria Sigismond (who directed Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer” video), a party driven by the sounds from the African and Latinx disaspora, and a celebration of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, the jazz pianist, organist, harpist, singer, composer, and wife of John Coltrane.

From October 6 to October 29, the events will go down at spots around Los Angeles, including the Hollywood Forever Cemetary, Paramount Pictures Studios, the Regent Theater, and the Miracle Theater.
