Born and raised in Boston, Mass., Caye became a talented multi-instrumentalist at an early age. His fondness for a variety of genres—from jazz to hip-hop and everything in between—melted with his skills on the drums, steel pan, and piano, set the stage for the spirit and heart of his music: smooth verses and seductive production.

Caye entered the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music’s Pop Music Program in Los Angeles during the Fall of 2016 and has already created a buzz for himself on the college circuit. He eventually signed with powerhouse talent agency Paradigm after selling out his hometown’s Brighton Music Hall, as well as a bunch of fan-driven & strongly supported live shows. 2017 is set to be a banner year for Caye now that he’s living the “LA Life.”

Get to know Caye in his own words:

My sound in five words or less: Genre fusion hip hop.

Best part of making this video: The best part was the execution. Coming up with the concept was pretty self-explanatory and we kind of meditated on the treatment for a while. It was really dope to actually get out and film the video.

What inspires your art: Lots of things. People, relationships, other musicians, etc…

Explain the concept of the song in one sentence: I noticed a huge difference in the music industry in LA as opposed to my original home, Boston, so this song is about that sudden realization of the opportunity that came with the hectic atmosphere of LA.

IG, Twitter, or Snapchat? I prefer Snapchat and Instagram, @thecayelife

What goes down in my DMs? Lots of people sending beats and fans telling me to come to their city.
