Master P was recently named the president of the Global Mixed Gender Basketball League. He sat with Charlamagne, DJ Envy and Angela Yee to unveil what to expect when the league launches in the coming months, as well as working with Kodak Black, the importance of maturity and mentoring young artists…
“It’s about bringing men and women together on a professional level,” said the entertainment mogul, who admits that he learned his skills on the hardwood from his female cousin. “She was better than the guys,” he claimed.
The No Limit baller wants the summer league he calls exciting and fun for the family to promote equal rights on all fronts.“In this league, men and women are going to be able to play on the same floor and also going to be able to make the same amount of money,” he tells The Breakfast Club.
The Global Mixed Gender Basketball League will feature 16 teams with each team having two women and three men on the court at all times during games. The inaugural game will see Master P’s New Orleans Gators facing off against Tameka “Tiny” Harris’ Atlanta Heirs. It’s scheduled to go down on September 23rd at Las Vegas’ Cox Pavilion arena.
The interview opened with Charlamagne the God apologizing to Master P for wasting his time when he attempted to have the rap mogul mentor a young Kodak Black. P admitted that he didn’t feel that his time was wasted. He said he’s spoken to the “Tunnel Vision” since their supposed falling out and blames the misudertsading on Kodak’s team. “He just got a lot of people around him he gotta fix,” he said.
The Icecream Man, who admitted that he is now “corporate America”, also talked about the importance of growth and progression. “The hood is somewhere you’re placed in, so I love the hood, where I come from,” he states. “But you don’t have to be so caught up in the hood to prove that you the hardest dude in the world.”
Master P fans looking for a taste of nostalgia are in for treat. The “Make ‘Em Say Uhh! rapper announced that he has films about his life coming soon. For instance, January 15th of next year will see the release of a documentary called I had A Dream. He spoke on how the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired him as a kid growing up in the hood in New Orleans. “I’m in the projects, but I have the opportunity to do something big,” he said he thought as a child, as a result of having had to recite Dr. King’s I Have A Dream speech often.
