For UGK fans, a smile comes across your face every time you think about Bun B and Pimp C’s rich catalog. The tandem that put the t-r-i and both l’s in “trill” have hits for days, both collectively and individually, from “Pocket Full of Stones” to “International Players Anthem,” the latter of which garnered them a Grammy nomination.

However, when it comes to worldwide recognition, Bun B (who is this week’s guest on Drink Champs) told hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN that the group’s verses on JAY-Z’s 2000 classic “Big Pimpin’” are still their most signature. Bun can tear down any arena he’s booked at across the globe with that song.

And while it is now impossible to imagine “Big Pimpin’” without Bun’s “Go read a book you illiterate son of bitch” line or Pimp’s vow to withhold music until “Whitey” paid him, maybe Hov wouldn’t have reached out to them for that track if he had gotten his initial wish to have some Underground Kingz finesse on another track.

Bun revealed on Drink Champs that Pimp C had actually agreed to appear on JAY’s In My Lifetime track “A Week Ago” along with fellow guest Too $hort. However, it was at a time when the Notorious B.I.G. had just been killed on the heels of the Tupac Shakur slaying and Jay wasn’t traveling much. Hov wanted Pimp to come to New York to record the verse and Pimp wanted Jay to come to Atlanta. Neither would budge, so the collab didn’t happen.

Bun has a million Pimp C stories and he definitely delves deep while talking about his gloriously flamboyant legend of a partner, including about how a Three 6 Mafia and UGK supergroup almost happened.

Tune into Drink Champs this Thursday on REVOLT TV at 10 p.m. ET.
