Add Chris Brown to the long list of people who have spoken out against President Donald Trump’s comments about how police should handle “thugs” in custody.
The 45th President made the harrowing remarks during his July 28th visit to Brentwood, a small community on Long Island in New York that has been plagued with gang violence from the notorious El Salvadorian MS-13 gang. During the event that was only open to invited media, selected elected officials and law enforcement, Trump encouraged police to not be “too nice” when dealing with “thugs.”
“When you see these thugs thrown into the back of a paddy wagon. You see them thrown in, rough. I said, please don’t be too nice,” Trump said. “Like when you guys put those guys in the car and you are protecting their head. The way you put their hand. Like don’t hit their head and they just killed somebody. I said, ‘you can take the hand away, okay?’”
Those remarks have been met with push back from local law enforcement departments across the nation and even had Chris Brown, who just a few months ago slammed a comedian for comparing him to Trump, speaking out.
Brown reposted Trump’s statements on his IG and called for people to pay attention to the racist rhetoric the President is pushing. “WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK?????! HE GIVING POLICE MORE RIGHT TO FUCK UP YOUNG BLACK MEN!!” he wrote. “SHIT IS CRAZZY!!! this is not how u make peace or any kind of help. Please wake up people!”
