This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be full of Katy Perry. The pop queen is set to hit the stage, may take home an award or two and will handle hosting duties.
“Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids,” said the multi-platinum singer in a press release announcing the news. She also claims to have been prepping for the big day by training in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream and group texting Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
This will be the singer’s first time hosting MTV’s annual award show, which will take place at California’s The Forum on Sunday, Aug. 27.
Though the five-time VMA-winner is nominated for five awards at the upcoming event, she trails this year’s leader, Kendrick Lamar. The DAMN. rapper has tallied up eight nominations altogether.
The latest Perry album, Witness, reached number one on Billboard’s top album chart and spawned the hits “Bon Appétit” and “Chained to the Rhythm.” Check Katy Perry out as she hosts the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards when the show airs live Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
