Chronicling one of history’s darkest moments of civil unrest and racial tension comes DETROIT, a new film from Annapurna Pictures. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the film details the Algiers Motel incident during the Detroit Rebellion of 1967. Amidst the chaos, with the city under curfew and the Michigan National Guard patrolling the streets, three young Black men were killed at the Woodward Avenue lodging by members of a task force.

Starring John Boyega (Star Wars), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), Algee Smith (The New Edition Story), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), and more, DETROIT hits theaters August 4.

REVOLT TV host Amrit Singh hit the DETROIT screening in Beverly Hills, Calif. where he talked to activists Ron Finley and Rashad Drakeford and artist Kelechi Kalu about the importance and impact of the film.
