Lil Kim celebrated another year under the sun today, and the Brooklyn native is literally a living legend: one of the most respected rappers to ever grace the mic.

After breaking into the game as a member of Notorious B.I.G.’s group Junior M.A.F.I.A., Kim released her classic debut album Hardcore and sold more than five million copies worldwide. From there, with subsequent solo albums and memorable cameos on songs like Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm (Remix)” and Puff Dadd & The Family’s “It’s All About The Benjamins (Remix),” she put together a discography that stands on its own against fellow women and male MCs alike.
