While Rick Ross is continuing to push Album of the Year candidate Rather You Than Me, he’s also focused on his upcoming tenth LP. While in Iceland yesterday (June 18) for the Secret Solstice, the MMG General sat down with REVOLT TV before hitting the stage to make the big reveal.

“Port of Miami 2,” Ross said with a grin about the title of his project. “That’s official.”

Of course, the original Port of Miami was Ross’ first album, released in 2006. Last year, he held a 10-year celebration for the opus, which culminated in a concert at the actual Port of Miami in Rozay’s hometown, and in a REVOLT TV special that documented the making of the classic.

A few days ago, the always-hustling CEO’s career was saluted by JAY-Z. Jay was the first MC to be inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, but could not attend because he stayed by Beyonce’s side as she went into labor with their twins. Jigga gave an acceptance speech of sorts via Twitter, sharing with the world a list of fellow MCs who have inspired him through the years.

Along with a diverse list of names that included Nas, Chance the Rapper, Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Quavo, and T. Grizzley, was “Ross.”

“Hov, I think he clarified the sport,” Ross reflected. “He made sure we all understood that it has become a thinking man’s game. [JAY-Z is] the Frank Sinatra of our time. So, you know, it’s only right I salute the big homie Hov on being the first MC in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. That’s big.”

Just as Ross aims to extend his legacy with a new album, so does JAY-Z. He announced over the weekend that the uber-advertised 4:44 LP will be out via Tidal and Sprint on June 30. There is no release date for Port of Miami 2 as of yet.
