Just days after Chance the Rapper announced his $2 million innovation challenge for Chicago and French Montana joined the fight for better healthcare in Africa, Dr. Dre is using his platform for good, too.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the rapper-producer will donate $10 million to help build a performing arts center at the new Compton High School in his hometown.
The complex will not just be for students, but an open resource for the Compton community. It will feature state-of-the-art equipment and technology, including digital media production facilities and a 1,200-seat theater, and is expected to break ground by 2020.
Dre said, “My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve. The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.”
