A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is continuing his story through song.

What a difference one year makes. Just last year, A Boogie was the industry’s best kept secret and now, he’s one the cover of XXL, charting high on the Billboard Hot 100 (“Drowning”), and now on his way to creating his debut album via Atlantic Records.

After his appearance on the Freshman issue of XXL this week, the Bronx-bred rap sensation sat with REVOLT to discuss the next stop in his career trajectory: the debut album.

“This new album I’m making right now, it feels like I’m starting up a whole new life,” he teased. “Compared to when I was making my first mixtape Artist, this album right here gotta be really different.”

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is on a quest to be the best

Fans experienced a first taste of the project via the rising hit “Drowning,” which features Kodak Black. The single is in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100, No. 15 on the Rap chart, and No. 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally.

“This album right here is basically my experience from when I first started my rap career, after I dropped my first mixtape, up to now,” he added. No release date is set on the project, but A Boogie’s debut is one of the many releases on the way. There’s a collaborative tape in the works with PnB Rock and a possible project with Don Q. All in all, the BX native has plenty treats in store for fans this year.

“So y’all gonna hear all the things that I really — I like to talk about how I feel,” he stated. “I’m ain’t gonna say I’m an emotional character or none of that, but I like to talk about how I feel because I don’t really talk to people about certain things.”
