South Central rapper RJ (a.k.a MrLA) is geared up and ready to take the music industry by storm. Since signing to 400 Summers, a joint label between YG and DJ Mustard, RJ has recently released his biggest project yet, MrLA. And with guest appearances from Blac Youngsta, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, ScHoolboy Q, Quavo, and Earl Swavey, it’s clear that RJ has created something that will for sure get the clubs rocking.

He began to gain the attention of his city back in 2013 when he released the first mixtape off his O.M.M.I.O. series. Since then, he’s produced a number of local hits, with his biggest record being the 2015 single “Get Rich.” But with MrLA, RJ is proving that he is ready to expand beyond the streets of Los Angeles and take his music to a national level.

Without a doubt, MrLA captures the true essence of West Coast hip-hop, which is clearly represented on songs like his leading track “Brackin” but, determined to not be placed in a box, the Los Angeles rapper also gives you diversity with his upbeat pop record “Is It Mine” ft. Ty Dolla $ign, and then takes is down South on “Blindfold” with Quavo.

RJ proved to not only be a proud rapper from L.A., but a loyal friend and devoted father when he stopped by REVOLT TV to talk about his project in a recent interview. Joined by his daughter Rain, Mr. LA talks his nickname, A-list collaborations, love for his city, versatility, and his new album. Watch the interview above.

RJ begins his ‘Mr LA’ tour next month.
