As we predicted, Nas’ twelfth studio album is dropping this year. After DJ Khaled first teased fans last year with his aptly-titled Major Key cut “Nas Album Done,” the lyricist himself gave his own update last month, dialing back the declaration a bit by promising that it was, instead, #AlmostDone.

Now, the rapper has confirmed that the LP, or at least material from it, is “coming this summer.”

When asked if he had completed the project, Nas told The New York Times, “Two weeks. I always say I’m two weeks away from finishing.”

He added, “You don’t really hear about [what I’ve seen] anymore and it’s missing, and that’s what I’m doing and keeping it current.”

Finally, Nas said, “We coming this summer, baby! It’s going to be a hot summer up here, man!”

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj, his rumored girlfriend and legendary lyricist in her own right, has given her album update, as well.

Speaking to DJ Whoo Kid, Minaj admitted her desire to make a model hip-hop album and predicted it’d be her best yet. However, she wouldn’t hint at a release date.

Minaj said, “That’s next on my bucket list, to deliver my fourth album and make sure that it’s a classic hip-hop album that people will never forget. I know it’s going to be my best body of work and I always love to be in real time, see my fans reacting to something. That’s what I’m looking forward to now. Obviously, I’m not telling them when my album is coming out, but I know that it’s gonna be amazing because I want to thank the people who’ve rocked with me for all of these years.”

Nas’ last album, Life Is Good, was released in 2012. Nicki Minaj’s, The Pinkprint, dropped in 2014.
