It’s been over 20 years since the passing of Tupac Shakur and come June 16, the world will once again witness the enduring power hip-hop’s most powerful enigma in the forthcoming biopic, “All Eyez On Me.”

The film, which stars Demetrius Shipp, Jr. playing the role of Shakur and Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, details the backstory of the rap star, from rise to fame and everlasting influence. According to Pac’s close friends and rap group the Outlawz, the biopic is told through the words of the iconic figure. “Tupac is telling his own story,” Young Noble revealed in an interview with REVOLT. “The script is wrote off of his words. They went back and did all this research and pretty much let Pac tell his story.”

Despite controversy surrounding the film and production, not to mention the setbacks in the past, the long-gestating biopic does Pac justice, according to the group. “They went about it right.”

“It’s a dope picture,” E.D.I. Mean concurred. “I can’t wait for everybody to see it.” While fans will have to wait until June 16 to see for themselves, many will be pleased to know that Outlawz actually portray themselves in the film. Young Noble and E.D.I. Mean, who happen to be the last two remaining figures of the legendary rap group, add authenticity to the film. “I’m still here man, why let somebody else play,” E.D.I. stated. “Don’t nobody know the story like we do.”

In addition to Outlawz, Digital Underground’s Money B also stars in the film as himself.

The highly anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic hits theaters June 16 and according to Noble and E.D.I. Mean, plan is in place to film a movie based on their lives as well. “We actually got our script done,” Noble confirmed. “The Outlawz Immortal is the sequel.”
