Kodak Black is back.
As of this morning (June 5), rapper Kodak Black, born Dieuson Octave, has been released from Broward County jail. The rapper’s release, which comes after he served nearly a month of his 364 day sentence for parole violation, was confirmed by Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Soon after being set free, he hopped on Instagram and appeared to be cruising to the sounds of Lauryn Hill.
The 19-year-old Florida rapper was sentenced to a year in jail earlier this year after violating his house arrest. A judge later cut him a deal, requesting that if Kodak was able to complete a life skills course behind bars, his sentence would be cut in half to 180 days. As noted at the time of the sentence, the rapper would receive credit for his time already served, which would cover the majority of that, leaving him with the remaining month. According to TMZ, these life skills courses covered domestic violence, parenting, financial management, problem solving and self-control skills.

Despite his release, Kodak will remain on the same year-long term of house arrest and five years of probation. He will need to request permission from his probation officer and court if he wants to travel for work-related events. Kodak is also still facing felony charges in South Carolina for an alleged sexual assault. He was released on bail from a South Carolina jail in December 2016.
