There’s no denying the long-lasting legacy and far-reaching influence of the Atlanta music scene. WE tv’s new series Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta will follow the next batch of up-and-comers that are making their mark within it.

Standing out among the cast—which includes Bow Wow, Reginae Carter (daughter of Lil Wayne), Shaniah Maudlin (daughter of Jermaine Dupri), Brandon Barnes (brother of Waka Flocka Flame), and Ayana Fite (daughter of DJ Hurricane)—is Zonnique Pullins.

Despite having famous parents—Pullins is the daughter of rapper T.I. and singer-songwriter Tiny (formerly of XSCAPE)—she works hard to make a name for herself. While it’s clear that talent is in Zonnique’s blood, it’s not something she takes for granted. If anything, it’s what’s inspired her to work harder. REVOLT TV spoke to the new star about why she decided to join the series.

Zonnique on how it feels to film reality show as T.I. and Tiny divorce

“I wanted to do [Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta] because I feel like I would love to have another platform to talk about my own stuff,” Zonnique said. “Making my own lane is, first, so, so important. Also, having famous parents is difficult because people see you so much. ‘That’s T.I. and Tiny’s daughter’ is the first thing they see when they see you or the first thing they say….I’m Zonnique, but it’s okay that you don’t know that yet.”

REVOLT TV also spoke to Zonnique about why she loves Atlanta, artists who inspire her, fellow entertainers to look out for, and her recording process. Watch the interview below.

‘Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta’ premieres on May 25 at 10 p.m. on WE tv.
