Musician/actor-turned-Hollywood exec Donald Glover expanded his already fruitful relationship with the FXX Network – and he won’t be in front of the screen, but behind it. Today, it was announced that FX ordered 10 episodes of an animated TV series based around the highly popular Marvel comics anti-hero Deadpool.

The untitled TV series is being described as “adult action-comedy” and will be produced as a joint venture between Marvel Television and FX Productions. Donald Glover and his brother Stephen, who co-writes on the hit show “Atlanta,” will be showrunners.

Glover is currently heavily enveloped with the house that Mickey built, Disney. Besides playing Simba in a live version of the “Lion King,” he’s starring as Landon Calrissian in an upcoming film based on the early life of beloved Star Wars character Hans Solo. Disney also owns Marvel and Glover also appears in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” which Marvel is producing.

Jeph Loeb, the Head of Marvel Television expressed excitement for the series.

“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX–the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!” Loeb said in a statement. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit “Atlanta,” added Nick Grad, one of the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

As for Glover’s multi-award winning and fan-lauded “Atlanta” series, all his other projects have caused him to put the show on hold until 2018.

“Han Solo: A Star Wars Story” has been announced to hit theaters on May 25, 2018, while “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is coming out way sooner, July 5 of this year. The new “Lion King” is still being cast (James Earl Jones has been announced to reprise his role play Simba’s dad Mufasa) and doesn’t have a release date as of yet.

Meanwhile in his other hustle, music, Glover aka Childish Gambino is headed towards a top 40 hit with “Redbone.” The record is currently number 44 and trending up on the Billboard top 100.
